Review: Benefit Groovy kind-a love!

Join the beauty love-in! There’s more to adore in our complete kit for eyes, lips, cheeks & face. Follow the easy tips & tricks to bring out the flower child in you. It’s one groovy box of beauty!

If you read my Benefit Blogger Event post from the past couple of weeks, then you will know that all of us beauty bloggers were lucky enough to get this little gem in our goodie bags! So, so spoilt.

Inside you get Porefessional - a pore minimising primer, Benetint - a cheek and lip stain, four eyeshadows - one matte and three shimmer, They're Real! Mascara and a Blush duo in Dandelion & Gimme Fever. Wow. Could it get any better?

I don't know about you guys, but I am starting to get really obsessed with Benefit. Not only do they have some of the best packaging around - but so far everything I've tried from them, I have fallen in love with!

Porefessional is pretty much the only primer I use. It's really fantastic at creating a smooth canvas for your foundation, and so far nothing I've tried has even compared to it.

Swatches on the right: Unblended, blended
Benetint. Did you know that this was created for use on nipples?! Yup. Exotic dancers needed something to perk them up, and Benetint did the job perfectly. Or so I've heard, I haven't tried it in that area myself (haha), but it's GREAT as a cheek and lip tint! It gives you such a natural flush, I just love it. I had actually been wanting it for ages, so I'm so happy that it's included in this kit!

From top to bottom: Tickle My Ivory, Gilt-y Pleasure, Shimmer Down and Kiss Me, I'm Tipsy
The eyeshadows come in four different colours: Tickle My Ivory (a matte creamy white), Gilt-y Pleasure (a shimmery muted gold), Shimmer Down (a shimmery browny taupe) and Kiss Me, I'm Tipsy (a shimmery dark chocolate brown).  Not gonna lie, I love the shade names! Hahaha
The eyeshadows themselves are really nice. The pigmentation is good and the colours are beautiful. Great for everyday use, and you could easily go from day to night with this. So impressed!

I have a review on They're Real! Mascara which you can find here. Been a fan of this for awhile now, so am very pleased to see they included a mini one in this set.

Left to right: Dandelion and Gimme Fever
The blush duo in Dandelion & Gimme Fever is quite possibly my favourite thing in this set. It's so pretty and gives the perfect amount of colour payoff, which means you don't spend ages trying to build up the colour and you don't go overboard either. Yay!

Overall, I am stoked that I received this set. It contains all the must have items that you need in your makeup collection, in one awesome little tin. If you are stuck on what to buy someone for Christmas, I highly suggest you head over to Smith & Caugheys and check out this and all the other sets Benefit have to offer. You will NOT be disappointed!

Benefit Blogger Event!

Last Thursday Camille and I were lucky enough to attend another Benefit Blogger Event. Honestly, it was probably the best event I have been to so far!

Beautiful window display!
It was held at the new Benefit counter that has just opened up in Smith & Caugheys Newmarket, and the counter itself is just so pretty! All the products are arranged beautifully, and the whole feel of it is both luxurious and fun.

Mixing the perfect colour for my brows!
The night started off with me getting my eyebrows tinted and waxed, which is something I’ve always wanted to do there but just haven’t been able to get around to yet. Needless to say, I was pretty stoked.
Hahaha!
The lovely Michelle, started off by mixing two colours to achieve the best shade of tint for my eyebrows. I used to tint my eyebrows all the time by myself, but honestly – it’s so much more relaxing having someone else do it for you! The colour she mixed turned out to be perfect for me, so we were off to a great start!

Waxing those brows!
Then came the waxing. Which is where I experienced the awkward moment when you don’t realise you have a monobrow ,until they rip it off. Hahaha! The waxing itself was quick and pretty painless to be honest, I would definitely get it done again. They finish by tweezing any stray hairs that the wax didn’t pick up.

Keyla using Gimme Brow on me
After that they sent me off to the wonderful Keyla, who fixed up my makeup for me and covered any redness I had from the wax. Yay!

Foundation time!
By the time I had finished getting pampered, the demonstrations started. They demonstrated the brow service I had just experienced, and also did a lovely makeup demo using one of the new Christmas sets. This is when we found out that we were getting one of these amazing sets in our goodie bags! So exciting!

Makeup demo set up - including the kit we got!
Amongst all the excitement I got to mingle with some of my fellow beauty bloggers, which was seriously awesome. We also got to chat with all the benebabes and learn more about some of the other products… and before I left I managed to buy a set of lip glosses. My reasoning (I always have excuses for buying more makeup!) is that I don’t actually have many lip glosses, because I hate the feeling of most of them. But these feel really nice, so I’m very happy.

Inside the goodie bag!
As I said above, we were all completely spoilt with our goodie bags. I am still overwhelmed by their generosity and I can’t wait to review everything!

And because I couldn't resist, here's a few more pics!

All in all, it was an amazing evening and I can't thank the lovely ladies at Benefit New Zealand enough for inviting us along.

Review: Benefit - They're Real!

They're real! lengthens, curls, volumizes, lifts & separates. Our jet black, long-wearing formula won’t smudge or dry out. A specially designed brush reveals lashes you never knew you had!

Benefit has always been a brand that has intrigued me, and for the longest time I have wanted to try their products – luckily for me (and the rest of NZ!), they are finally available here! Yay!

When I attended the Bene-Blogger Bash, we were all given a full size ‘They’re Real!’ Mascara. Because I was using up all the other mascaras I had been sent, I decided not to use it straight away… but that didn’t last for long.

Where has this mascara been all my life? I have had so many compliments on my eyelashes while wearing this, that I can’t help but fall in love with it.

It is a perfect black that actually looks black, and not charcoal. The brush is quite unique with its custom-domed tip, which allows you to use it both horizontally and vertically. The formula is lovely – it lengthens as well as creating volume. It also holds a curl really well and separates the lashes nicely.

Overall, I think this is one of the nicest mascaras I’ve ever used and will definitely be getting another one after this! Recommend it to anyone who wants to fool people into thinking you’re wearing falsies.

Bene-blogger Bash: Grand Opening and A Competition!

I am sure you are all well aware now that the beauty giant, Benefit Cosmetics, has finally come to little old New Zealand.
Words can't even begin to describe how ridiculously excited I am. I have been dreaming of trying this brand since about 2008 - but have never had the chance to get my hands on it. Until now!

Goodies for us all to have a play with
Being invited to this awesome event was definitely the highlight of the month. It was held at the gorgeous Nostalgia Restaurant on Ponsonby Road, in Auckland. That was definitely a genius move on their part, because the gorgeous decor matched the beautiful Benefit packaging perfectly! I definitely felt glamourous just being a part of it all.

The night got off to a great start, I had barely stepped foot through the door and I already had a glass of wine in my hand. Now that's service with a smile! My non-alcoholic-beverage-drinking sister was treated to a glass of sparkling water, how cute is that?

Yay for nibbles!
I had the pleasure of meeting a couple of other Beauty bloggers and a lovely girl from BigLittleCity, but one of the highlights was definitely talking to all the Bene-girls and learning all their little tips and tricks. The down side however, is that I'm gonna be completely broke now - because I'm dying to have one of everything!

All set up for demonstrations - let the learning begin!
Hannah demonstrating the Benefit brow mapping technique!
At the end of the night we were all treated to an adorable little goodie bag! Yay! Presents!!!
We each got the POREfessional (sooo excited to start using this) and They're Real! Mascara. I'm dying to try the mascara, but I have another one that I'm reviewing at the moment - so I will have to try and refrain from using it just yet! Damn!

Goodiebags! Exciting!!
Inside the goodiebag! Can't wait to start using these!
Overall it was a fantastic event, and I can't thank the wonderful Gemma enough for inviting me. I am so happy to have been a part of it - and I can't wait to get into Smith & Caugheys to check out everything!

Speaking of which, Smith & Caugheys are holding a Benefit competition, where you have the chance to win not one, but THREE essential Benefit products!

You'd be crazy not to be a part of this, so make sure you do enter!
