Review: Bobbi Brown Lipsticks

Bright, shiny and new - our much-loved Sheer Lip Colors get a polished update, now in a limited edition silver tube. This lightweight formula delivers an effortless wash of color plus nourishing shine (and pairs perfectly with the season's luminous looks).
Luxurious butters and oils improve the overall condition of lips, instantly and over time. Glides on smoothly and evenly for hours of feather-free wear.

I kind of have a bit of a love/hate relationship with lipstick. I love to wear it, and love the look of it. But more often than not, I hate the feeling of it!
This is because I get really dry/chapped lips pretty much year round and almost every lipstick I try dries them out even more. It's really irritating!

But I have to say, this Sheer Lip Color lipstick feels so nice! It's formulated with Shea Butter, Murumuru Butter and Apricot Kernel Oils which rejuvenate and nourish the lips, all while actually improving the condition of lips overtime. It glides on super smooth, and doesn't seem to dry out my lips at all, leaving them feeling soft and moisturised.

The colour I have is Pink Gold from the Nude Glow Collection and it is a light shimmery gold. Normally I don't like shimmer in lipsticks, but this actually looks quite beautiful on. The first time I wore it I got asked what I was wearing about 6 times, I kid you not! That hardly ever happens with my lipsticks!

Here's a swatch and closeup:

And here's a photo of me wearing it:

Now onto the new Shimmer Lip Color...

Bobbi Brown's iconic Lip Color is now available in new shades that combine high-shine emollients and light-reflective pearls for something completely fresh. Don't think metallic or frost - the effect is sheer and multi-dimensional. The lightweight yet moisturising formula glides effortlessly and evenly onto lips, leaving a thin veil of light-reflecting colour that  lasts for hours without feathering or drying.
Each shade is formulated with a unique blend of pearls for an effect that's intensely reflective yet soft and wearable; individual pearls have a smooth, flat shape and reflective, mirror-like quality.

Like I said above, I normally don't like shimmer in lipsticks - but there is something about these that is just gorgeous. Instead of looking chunky and glittery, these just have the most gorgeous shine.

The colour I have is Berry Shimmer and it is a gorgeous neutral pink. These too are formulated with Shea Butter and Murumuru Butter, which leaves your lips feeling supple and conditioned. The colour payoff of this is actually pretty good considering that they are on the sheer side, and it really doesn't take much to get a nice opaque colour.

It's not actually a shade that I would normally gravitate to, so it's taken me by surprise just how much I love this!
Here's a swatch and a close up:

And here's a photo of me wearing it:

Overall I am very impressed by both of these lipsticks. They feel great, more like a lip balm than a lipstick, and are both colours that I will get a lot of wear out of. These are both available now, at the Bobbi Brown store in Britomart.

Blogger Event: Bobbi Brown Seasonal Launch

Last Friday Camille and I were invited to attend a Bobbi Brown Seasonal Launch with Kai Vinson - Bobbi Brown Director of Artistry and Education for Asia Pacific.

Yummy!
On arrival we were all treated to drinks, which were so delicious and refreshing! Once inside, I was slighly overwhelmed by how beautiful the store is and very excited to see all the new up and coming collections spread out for us to see - and play with!

Palette from the Amnesia Rose Collection
After mingling with my fellow beauty bloggers and having some quick snacks, Kai started the presentation by taking us over each of the new collections coming out in the next few months.

One of the first to launch is the Nude Glow Collection (available 3 February 2014) which features four easy to use products that will instantly brighten your look.
There are three different eyeshadow palettes: Nude Eye, Crystal Eye and Bronze Eye. Each palette features both matte and soft shimmer eyeshadows that are perfect to wear from day to night. RRP $110
Such gorgeous packaging!
The Sheer Lip Colours in this collection are just gorgeous, again there are three different ones to choose from: Pink Rose, Pink Flush and Pink Gold. These leave a beautiful hint of colour on lips and are formulated with Shea Butter, Murumuru Butter and Apricot Kernel Oils which help to rejuvenate and nourish lips, improving the overall condition of lips both instantly and over time. RRP $54

Of course with the popularity of nail polishes these days, Bobbi had to throw some in and they compliment the collection perfectly. Available in shades: Pale Nail, Ballet Pink Glitter and Bronze Shimmer Nail Polish. RRP $26

Explaining how to use the Brightening Finishing Powders
To complete the collection, Bobbi has released the Brightening Finishing Powder. The beautifully sleek compact features six luminous shades that blend together to illuminate the skin. These are to be swept over the face as the last step in your makeup routine to instantly brighten the complexion, and are available in three shades: Brightening Nudes, Porcelain Pearl and Bronze Glow. RRP $125

Close ups of the lipsticks and palette, with Kai talking about the lipsticks in the collection
One of the most beautiful collections to be released this year is the Amnesia Rose Collection which is a collaboration with L'Wren Scott, a visionary fashion designer and partner of Mick Jagger.
The collection includes a beautiful palette which features 6 eyeshadows - one of which is a gorgeous bright purple, a pot rouge which you can use on both cheeks and lips and a powder blush.
It is just so pretty! And the packaging for this collection... oh my goodness, I'm obsessed.

To showcase some of the gorgeous products, Kai did a quick makeover on one of the Bobbi Brown girls, Rachel. She looked stunning!

Pressing in the eyeshadow for better results
Quick tip we learnt from Kai: Bobbi Brown eyeshadows are professional pigments, which means it's much better to press the colour onto the lids, rather than swipe it on. It will help reduce fallout and give much better colour payoff.

Overall, it was a fantastic night and I can't thank the wonderful people at Bobbi Brown enough for hosting such a fabulous event!

And just because, here's a few more photos:

Bobbi Brown skincare, so luxurious!

Another beautiful collection that will be released soon

Fave Five!

It's getting warmer and warmer every day! Ahhh, I can't wait til Summer.
  1. Lush Soap

Why has it taken me so long to discover these? My favourite scent at the moment is Angel's Delight. It's one of their christmas soaps, and I think I might have to stock up on it. :P

  2. LMFAO - Sexy and I know it

I actually can't stop singing this song. It's stuck in my head 24/7. So funny!

  3. Bobbi Brown Long-Wear Gel eyeliner

Got this for my birthday and am really enjoying using it. The brush that came with it is actually really good too, which was a pleasant surprise! I think I prefer Bobbi Brown gel eyeliners to MAC Fluidlines.. just seem better quality.

  4. My pandora!

Just started wearing it again.. I really love it. Pretty much all the charms on it have been bought by my family - for birthdays and christmases, and I think it's one of the prettiest pieces of jewellery I own.

  5. Living Nature Skincare

I might actually do a review on this. This was another birthday present that my parents bought me from the Living Nature shop up in Kerikeri. I think the whole lot cost around $50, and I have to say that I think it was worth every cent! My skin feels awesome.
