Big hello to all my wonderful followers! :D
I am very sorry that I haven't been posting, as you may know, my laptop is broken - hoping to get it fixed, but I don't have the money for that yet, so will have to wait. :( In the meantime, I'm using Mum's laptop as much as I can and am keeping up to date with emails by using my iPod - I honestly don't know what I'd do without that marvellous piece of technology..
Anyway, I came across this article today about makeup testers and the bacteria found on them, it grossed me out so much that I just knew I had to share the article with you guys. So if you'd like to read it, here it is: http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2010/04/20/makeup-testers-regularly_n_544267.html
I honestly recommend that you DO read it, and please, please, PLEASE take extra care whenever you use any makeup tester - remember, you're NOT the first person to have touched it.
Hope you all well and I am hoping that I will be posting more, I'm so sorry that I've been slacking lately!
Thanks for viewing!

Well that's not surprising to be honest, considering people don't wash their hands before they use testers (bit inconvenient in shops obviously but then some people just happen to have bad hygiene) and then you have the ones that just use the testers/makeup to do their faces in the morning on the way to work/town/whatever else (believe me I have seen that too).
ReplyDeleteI made an article quite a while ago when I started in the same kind of thoughts, it's time makeup companies did more to protect their customers from infections and contamination ! Link's here if you want to read. I did it when I started doing the blog, but I think I might get it out again now that I have a few more followers... I am hoping that with pyramid effect I might just get enough interest to be able to submit that to the companies !

WEll that;s why i dont test on my face! only my hands!
ReplyDeleteBleurgh it makes me not want to test makeup ever, even on the back of my hand :|
ReplyDeleteHey, there, I was wondering where you were! ;) I really hope your laptop is fixed soon -- or better yet, that God will give you a new one.
ReplyDeleteThanks so much for the link. I don't use testers much, I'd rather eyeball makeup than use testers. But I never even knew what kind of nasty organisms make their way there! It's so disgusting and really health-threatening!
I gave you an award because you're awesome!
MartianDelights - Yeah, I wasn't too surprised by it, but really didn't think it would be as bad as it is!
ReplyDeleteThanks for the link, I'll check it out asap. :)
Y - Yeah I would never try ANY tester on my face - that is so gross! Unless the testers were brand new of course..(I have been given brand new testers in the past, it's great!)
SilhouetteScreams - I know right! Maybe just make sure you can wash your hands straight away?
jo.frougal - Hi! Thanks hun :D
I like to get the 'feel' of a product before I buy them, so I quite often test products on the back of my hand - although after reading this, I'm not gonna be doing that too often!
Thank you for the award, I'll check it out now!
I didn't really know about this, but when you think about it, it's quite obvious - people sticking their dirty fingers into pots and pans of makeup, it's not a science that they should be full of germs!
ReplyDeleteI don't mind swatching on my arms and hands but I tend to stay clear of testing them on my face...and I don't like it much when MUA's do me up either!
